The Daily Phill

Good Luck & Good Night

Posted by: Phill on: February 12, 2010

Well folks,

The time has come.  100 days have passed, I have written my heart out, updating you daily on all my thoughts and doings and findings. And now it is time for me to leave.  As I thought about what I could possibly say that could wrap up this entire experience or to impart all of my vast knowledge (and by vast I mean extremely limited) I decided to simply say this.

Thank you :-)

Thank you for helping me complete my goal.  Thank you for helping to keep me accountable.  Thank you for making this a fun, exciting, challenging and rewarding experience.  I have learned so much, grown so much, and lived so much.  I can only wish you all do the same.  But for now, as all good things do, this must come to an end.  But fear not, for I am always but a facebook post or text message away ;-)   Good night my friends, and thanks for reading. Peace.

- Got to see Mel!

Things to do tomorrow:

- Hang out with Mel
- Hike/Picnic maybe?
- Write my last blog!  Are you ready for it?

Stay tuned my loyal fans!  For tomorrow, is the end of the end…. Peace.

And Now For Something Completely Different…

Posted by: Phill on: February 9, 2010

So I figure you only have 3 more posts left to read so I need to squeeze all of my random links and pics and comments and rants and raves into one post before I get all sentimental on you again… lets start off with a cool new music video off youtube!  Very dirty, but amatuer rhymers have some serious flow… check it:

Have you ever wondered how people purpose when money is not an option?  I think this is just about the best and most romantic/awesome proposal ever… I mean seriously… Who is it?  Senior Facebook platform manager Dave and his Google employee girlfriend Brittany!  Check the link, I mean, what girl could turn this down… If only I had billions of dollars, then I would do the same thing :-P

LINK

Also, if you have not bought me a birthday present yet don’t feel bad!  You can still get me the most awesome gift ever!  Check this out!

Pets with Tourettes!

I NEED to have a coffee table book with adorable animals saying vulgar things!  I mean, what manly apartment doesn’t have one of those!  I mean, seriously!  Come on!

Finally, Today was a long andglorious day.  Long because I woke up at 5:45 to drive to Dixon, but glorious because I got a free grand sam breakfast for doing it!  Also, I built this beast of a circuit today:

It is only 2/3 done cause we still need to build the filter for it, but eventually, it will basically be a scale :-P We have a stress sensor hooked up to some amplifiers and signal processors we made from scratch and once we filter it we will be able to read the weight of an object by looking at the voltage :-P

Ok well that is it for tonight, I hope you enjoyed this random shmorgasboard of content… Peace.

In My Final Moments

Posted by: Phill on: February 8, 2010

Is everybody happy? I want everybody to be happy. I know I’m happy.
~~ Ethel Barrymore, actress, d. June 18, 1959

Die? I should say not, dear fellow. No Barrymore would allow such a conventional thing to happen to him.
~~ John Barrymore, actor, d. May 29, 1942

Friends applaud, the comedy is finished.
~~ Ludwig van Beethoven, composer, d. March 26, 1827

I should never have switched from Scotch to Martinis.
~~ Humphrey Bogart, actor, d. January 14, 1957

Go on, get out – last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.
To his housekeeper, who urged him to tell her his last words so she could write them down for posterity.
~~ Karl Marx, revolutionary, d. 1883

Ever thought about the last words you will ever say on this earth will be?  I mean, it sounds morbid to think about that, truly, it is an interesting thing to consider.  In your one last dying breath, what would you say to sum up all of your wisdom, all of your life experiences, all of your love, or all of your patriotism in a single short phrase.  I think about this now, because (in a sense) my final words with you all (via the internet, at least) are fast approaching.  And I know like the past 95 days or so days , the post will end in: Peace. ~Phill but what comes before that.  What do I say to an audience that has been so deeply ingrained into the inner workings of my thought, life, wanderings, ADDDness, and creativity for almost 1/3 of a year that they don’t already know….What are YOUR last words going to be?

Who knows? Just something interesting to think about :-) Peace.

The Final Countdown

Posted by: Phill on: February 7, 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here it is.  The final countdown.  The accumulation of all that was and is from the past 100 or so days.  This Friday is the final day of my 100 days of blogging.  After having tried and failed, and tried again, and again, and again, I finally managed to pull of a decent and acceptable try!  (98/100 is pretty good in my book ;-) ).  So as we are winding down this whole shindig, I thought it would be cool to take a look back over the past 100 days and see what we have learned and experienced.

I have learned that art can be both beautiful and confucing.
I have learned that there are magnitudes of beauty and art all throughout the world.
I have learned that doing something, even if it is as simple as a quick blog post, consistently for a long period of time, is much harder than it sounds.
I have learned that coming uo with something intelligent to say, is not always quick and easy.
I have learned that your friends are the ones who you hang out with, but your best friends are the ones who log on and read your ridiculous rantings, rehashings, and rapping day after day after day.
I have learned that despite failing numerous times.  Hard work and dedication pay off in the end.

Overall, This whole mess was a great experience and fun time.  To give my loyal 3 readers a heads up, I have decided to not continue with my blogging.  As distressing as this might sound, you have to remember that this is only a small step on my way to living a full and exciting life :-)   I still have over 150 items to check off my list and I think my time would be better spent taking care of some of those.

In closing, I just want to thank you all for reading this.  You really were the only motivation and accountability I had some days.  It has been a great ride.  Enjoy the last 5 days, and remember: take it easy, keep it real, and enjoy life.  Peace.

Homework–>Bed

In case my one worded step map of my day didn’t make sense to you (my loyal 3 readers) then let me just give you the extended version: I woke up and went and did homework at starbucks with zach for 5 hours and got an ok amount of work done and then basically have just been studying on and off all day but I still feel hopelessly inadequate at circuits :-(   I am so nervous about the midterm coming up because I don’t think I know how to answer a single question… but I don’t even know what kind of questions the prof could possibly ask.  Also, in other news, I might be graduating in 4 years :-O  I know, that ones a shocker, right?  Other than that nothing is too terribly new in my life.  My days and weeks are pretty simple and predictable.  But you know how I do.  I hope all is well with you all.  The end is nigh. Peace.

Working Together (With Yourself)

Posted by: Phill on: February 5, 2010

I am being very unproductive this morning.  I just can’t seem to get motivated to get any real soilid work don…. If your feeling the same, then try to beat this simple game :-P

http://www.nekogames.jp/mt/2008/01/cursor10.html

The concept is simple.  You play the same game 8 times with the goal trying to reach the 16th floor.  Every time you play, your previous trys play right along with you… this is rather important and requires some strategy to beat the game… it took me 4 trys to beat (as in 3 attempts with 8 lives….)  Can you do it faster?  Anyway, I am off to apartment shop.  Peace.

Perspective

Posted by: Phill on: February 4, 2010

Pretty Crazy huh?  This really puts some perspective on things… I am also glad to know that I contribute to the digital onslaught of information posted daily on the web.  Makes me feel like the part of something altogether larger than myself, lol.  Anyway, enjoy the little factoid for the day!  Peace.

Urban Phill

Want a Laugh?  Check this out.

PART A -
1.) Go to UrbanDictionary.com
2.) Type in “Phill”  {without the quotes}
3.) Read the first 2 definitions of what my commonly used name means to the internet and urban world.
4.)Laugh.

PART B -
1.) Go to UrbanDictionary.com
2.) Type in “Phillip” {without the quotes}
3.) Scroll down to the 4th entry.
4.)Laugh.

I don’t want to be vain but I can’t help but feel that that 4th entry was specifically written about me :-P   I mean everything just seems to fit (except maybe the mapping about Milfs part, lol.)  How weird is that, though?  I am really curious to know who wrote it and if they wrote it about me… Haha, I will probably never know… But it was definitely a funny find! Try typing your name in and seeing what comes up!  You never know, someone might have written something specifically about YOU!  haha!  Peace.
